To remove a drive from the pool, select the drive to be removed from the drives dashboard, then select "Remove drive"
The drive removal process moves all primary files from the drive being removed to the pool. Any duplicate files residing on the drive are NOT moved to the pool, this is to speed up the removal process. Once a drive has been removed, Drive Bender will then validate the pool to ensure any unduplicated file is then duplicated.
There are some important notes to make regarding drive removal.
Once a drive has been removed, it should be checked to ensure all primary files have successfully been moved off the drive.
If a drive is removed from a pool that has one or more folder flagged for duplicated, the drive will contain a number of sub folders called "FOLDER.DUPLICATE.$DRIVEBENDER", in these folder you will find the duplicate files of a given folder.
Because duplicate files are not moved to the pool during the removal process, there is a period of time when their primary counter parts will be unduplicated in the pool. If this is a concern, you should retain the removed drive's contents until all files are re-duplicated.
Important - If the drive you are removing is the only drive in the pool, Drive Bender will generate an error indicating there is not enough room in the pool to remove the drive. To continue with the removal you will need to do a forced removal.
