Changes made to a drive being added to the pool

Here we explain the changes made to a drive when it is added to a Drive Bender pool.

When a drive is added to a pool, weather it be by Adding a drive, Merging a drive or Converting a drive a number of files and sub folder are created on the drive. These include

Sub folders (XXXX denotes a GUID)

{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX} - These (there can be more than one of these) are the mount point folder. All files and folders add to a pool's mount point, are written to this folder. There will be one of these folders for each mount point in the pool.
BACKUP.$DRIVEBENDER - This is where the configuration is backed up.

Files

{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}.PI - This is the pool instance descriptor file.
{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}.MP - These (there can be more than one), are the mount point descriptor files.

If at some point you wish to remove Drive Bender pool information (and files), you delete the above files and folders.

If you using the "Take Drive Bender for a test drive" option in the pool setup wizard, other than the addition of the above files and folder, no other modifications are made.

If you add the drive as part of a merge process, the drives existing files will be moved to the pools folder structure. The same is also true of a convert operation.
